If we all did the numerous little things that we know feed us in mind and body we would live happier lives. Those around us would live happier lives. The world would be a better place. This is a guarantee.
Feed and strengthen our bodies. Eat more veggies. Reduce alcohol and caffeine. Minimize preservatives and refined sugar and chemicals that you cannot pronounce. Eat breakfast. Eat as a family if possible. Just eat, don’t read or watch cat videos at the table. Walk more. Get at least 30 minutes of exercise three times a week. Eat an apple today. Quit smoking. Take as little medication as you need. Learn to dance Salsa. Develop a taste for superfoods if your budget allows (oily fish, dark greens, berries, etc.…). Leave a few minutes early for things. Use all the preventative medical care available to you (annual physicals, teeth cleaning, etc.). Drink more water (weight in pounds divided by two, expressed in ounces of water a day). If possible, walk, bike, or take public transportation to work. Go for a walk with a loved one (every night if possible!) Practice yoga.
Feed and strengthen our minds and hearts and souls. Study a language. Ride a bike. Paint a picture. Plant a garden no matter how small. Read more. Watch less television. Spend less time on social media. Join a group. Practice forgiveness. Explore or strengthen your faith. Sing in the shower, the car, or anywhere. Go to a library. Watch a good movie. If possible, roast marshmallows once in a while. Practice forgiveness, begin with yourself. Make guacamole. Write a letter with a pencil and paper to a loved one, put a stamp on it, and walk it to the mailbox. Write a book. Keep a gratitude journal. Get your news from a new source. Learn to own your short comings as well as your strengths. Practice yoga.
Feed and strengthen your community. Hug a friend or loved one. Donate your time or money to a charity. Go to a PTA meeting or town hall ready to listen with an open heart and speak with a compassionate mind if at all. Volunteer. Stand up for someone being marginalized. Bring a homemade meal to a homeless person. Write a letter to an elected official highlighting them something that they are doing well. Write a letter to an elected official telling them of something that they could do differently. Spend your time and money on things that build strong fair societies. Attend a rally or march for a cause you believe in, doing so with hope and compassion. Practice yoga.
Feed and strengthen our planet. Plant a tree. Buy healthy sustainable locally sourced food when possible. Eat less meat, but if you want a burger on Tuesday eat a burger! Recycle. Compost. Write to an elected official with suggestions for progress. Keep your home and car (and your own body) in good working order with preventative/regular maintenance. Support non-profits that are building a better world. Let someone go in front of your car in traffic. Spend your time and money with companies that are building a sustainable healthy planet. Use as little non-renewable energy as you can without going crazy. Practice yoga!
